Pros

  • The combination of the entire group worked well. At first I was worried there would be too many kids to handle. But over all it went well
  • I observed that there was good community building between older and younger groups, which is the way it should be. I don't like segregating the groups
  • I didn't observe any counter productive behavior from the kids. Although I passed out by 11, so I'll leave it up to the rest of the servants to elaborate.
  • The presence of multiple servants was good. The division of tasks worked towards offloading the work such that no one was overly stressed (at least it didn't look like it to me)
  • The location was good. I liked how contained it was. The meeting hall in the middle and the sleeping areas in the wings.
  • It looked like each one stuck to their tasks and completed it properly.
  • The activities were good: climbing wall and archery. Everyone seemed interested
  • The games on the second floor of the gym were good, fooseball, air hockey, etc... I liked those.

Improvements

  • I felt the 11pm quiet time was restrictive, at least for Friday. If we had the entire lodge, I believe it would've been a bit more relaxed.
  • I observed that one of the talks wasn't prepared ahead of time. I had requested that the notes on the talk be sent prior so they can be shared around, but that didn't happen
  • Not everyone was present during the planning phase (including me)
  • Some things slipped by with the camp including the food issue. If we had known earlier, we could've mitigated the situation by including some seafood stuff; tuna, etc. Or we could've even offered the camp some help with regards to that area
  • I wasn't happy with the late registration. It kept things unclear enough, forcing us to combine in the last minute. Moving forward; only one camp for High School
  • I wasn't happy with the Servant's Prep combination plans that kept changing. It's not good optics to keep changing things to the last minute. Next time, it's high school only. Nothing else.
  • We should've had more regular meetings. The last meeting where most of us attended was good in dotting the Is and crossing the Ts. Having regular sync-up during the planning phase would be desirable.
  • I observed that several times I had called for meetings (one with Fr. AP and others) where only two of us attended. I believe if a servant commits to the camp, they have to make room in their schedule for planning meetings.
  • I didn't like that we had to re-discuss the third part of the talks (about family relationships) last minute. The topic had been out for weeks prior. Any opinions or thoughts should've been vetted ahead of time. (Although what we landed on at the end worked out well, I believe)
  • We needed more meetings with Fr. AP before hand to work out more of the topic details.
  • We need to be more creative with content and ways to present them. We should do some research on what other camps do and see what we can adopt.
  • Agree on a dress code at the retreats (something reasonable)

Subjective Opinions about the content

  • I felt some of the talks were a bit too brainy.
  • We should aim at keeping talks within 1 hour. Some of the talks went over 1.5 hours. It's hard to focus for that long
  • I believe the Q&A worked out well. I think the time we allocated for it was sufficient. Any longer and it would've been tiring.
