  • March Break - 2 day retreat (Dalia/Ayman N, Nelly, Christine, Mariam, Marina, Amir)

Justification

There are reasons why activity days are a good idea. Here are a few:

  1. It allows the servants time to get to know the kids
    1. The longer time and more consistently servants spend with the kids, the more they get to know them.
    2. Servants get to understand what's going through the kids minds.
    3. They get the opportunity to forge connections, which would be beneficial down the line, as the kids grow up and look for someone they can trust and confide in.
  2. It facilitates other services
    1. Visitations: Without knowing the kids it becomes harder to spend one-on-one time with them.
  3. It creates a bond between the different groups of kids who otherwise won't spend much time together.
  4. It creates a bond between the kids and the church.
    1. It creates memories which kids remember fondly. This helps in their future years as they might go through some rough patches.
  5. It creates a community

I don't view activity days as an end in and of itself, rather a means to allow us to help the kids and ourselves get closer to God.
