Justification
There are reasons why activity days are a good idea. Here are a few:
- It allows the servants time to get to know the kids
- The longer time and more consistently servants spend with the kids, the more they get to know them.
- Servants get to understand what's going through the kids minds.
- They get the opportunity to forge connections, which would be beneficial down the line, as the kids grow up and look for someone they can trust and confide in.
- It facilitates other services
- Visitations: Without knowing the kids it becomes harder to spend one-on-one time with them.
- It creates a bond between the different groups of kids who otherwise won't spend much time together.
- It creates a bond between the kids and the church.
- It creates memories which kids remember fondly. This helps in their future years as they might go through some rough patches.
- It creates a community
I don't view activity days as an end in and of itself, rather a means to allow us to help the kids and ourselves get closer to God.
